Biography
John Mitchell Mason (1770-1829) was a prominent minister and theologian in New York City. He served as pastor of the Associate Reformed Church in New York and was known for his eloquent preaching and theological writings.
Mason was an influential voice in discussions about worship practices in the early American Presbyterian and Reformed churches, including debates over psalmody and hymnody.
He founded the first theological seminary in New York and served as provost of Columbia College.
